Best ACL reconstruction stretch

Tom Jennings ACL reconstruction ACL tear exercise extension flexibiltiy knee mobiltiy recovery sports therapy

As mentioned in our prior post the hamstrings need to be stretched for a proper ACL reconstruction recovery. The sooner the hamstrings can relax and elongate, the sooner the quadriceps muscle can activate for knee stability. This simple stretch with a towel helps to isolate the distal hamstrings and posterior capsule of the knee.

The knee normally has a few degrees of hyperextension and it is vital to maintain that range of motion after ACL reconstruction for a proper recovery. Start by performing soft tissue mobilization on the hamstrings followed by this stretch.
